Young man dies at South Bank beach

A man in his twenties has died after suffering a cardiac arrest while swimming at
Brisbane's popular artificial beach at South Bank.
Lifeguards carried the man from the water and performed CPR around 9am (AEST) on
Monday.
But a Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said when paramedics arrived the
man had gone into a cardiac arrest.
He was taken to the Mater Hospital in a critical condition and later died.
His next of kin have been notified.
South Bank Corporation acting chief executive Shane Beecroft said the man had been
swimming with a friend.
"It would be premature to speculate on the cause of death, which is yet to be
determined by the Coroner," he said.
