Main suspect in Dr. Sarabi murder case commits suicide
GYLAN-E-GHARB, Kermanshah Province, Oct. 3 (MNA) -- One of the main suspects in the case of the murder of Iranian heart specialist Gholamreza Sarabi has committed suicide to avoid arrest, according to an official in the town in western Iran where the incident occurred.
He was surrounded by the police on Wednesday, but after a brief shootout, he fatally shot himself in order to avoid arrest, the governor general of Gylan-e-Gharb, a town in the western province of Kermanshah, said on Thursday.
The criminal, Bahman Karimi, was alone when he was cornered by the police, Gylan-e-Gharb Governor General Jabbar Faramarzi told the Mehr News Agency.
The police say that Karimi murdered Dr. Sarabi in front of his office in Tehran on September 22. Karimi’s son and son-in-law were accomplices in the crime.
Sarabi succumbed to his injuries on September 24.
