Fewer viewers tune in for AFL re-match

Footy finals fatigue took its toll on viewers on Saturday with fewer people tuning
in to watch the re-match between Collingwood and St Kilda than last weekend's
blockbuster.
The game attracted an average national audience of 3.6 million viewers, compared to
3.7 million who watched the grand final draw on September 25.
In all 5.7 million people flicked to the football for at least five minutes during
the Magpies' premiership thrashing of the Saints, compared to 5.6 million the
previous week.
As expected, Melbourne drew the biggest audience with the home of AFL amassing
almost three times as many viewers as any other capital city.
Almost 1.5 million Melburnians tuned in to watch the historic premiership decider,
with 524,000 viewers in Sydney, 451,000 in Brisbane, 354,000 in Perth and 311,000 in
Adelaide.
The grand final draw presentations, broadcast live on Channel Seven, became the top
rating sports event of the year in the five major capital cities with 3.3 million
viewers.
Taking second place was last weekend's grand final, followed by the rematch.
