Iran President to visit Lebanon at official invitation: daily
Beirut, Oct 2, IRNA – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s upcoming visit to Lebanon will take place at the official invitation of the Lebanese government, a Lebanese daily wrote on Saturday.
The daily as-Safir quoted official sources as saying that President Ahmadinejad is to meet President Michel Sleiman, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Saad Hariri and several other dignitaries of the country.
According to the sources, the Lebanese solidarity, defending the rights of the Lebanese nation against the Zionist threats and support for the resistance movement of the Lebanese people are among priorities of the Iranian government, the daily added.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is expected to help equip the Lebanese Army and boost its oil and energy cooperation with the country, as-Safir noted.
