Politician: Ahmadinejad has very special place in Lebanon’s heart

Beirut, Oct 2, IRNA – A Lebanese politician said Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad enjoyed a very special position in the hearts of Lebanese people.

Wiam Wahab, who is the head of Lebanon’s Tawheed Movement Party, said during the past 25 years that Iran has been supporting Lebanese resistance, the present president of Iran has managed to get a special position in the hearts of Lebanese people.

Talking to IRNA in Beirut, he said Lebanon will warmly embrace the Iranian president during his visit to the country.

He further noted that Iran has been supporting Lebanon especially at times when most Arab states disregarded it, stressing that Iran has played quite a role in formation and expansion of resistance against the Zionist regime.

Saying that Lebanese people were looking forward to seeing Ahmadinejad in their country, Wahab said he believed the visit will be quite fruitful for the Lebanese nation if Lebanese officials really realized the importance of the visit and did not listen to the US claims.

He hoped that the Lebanese officials seized the opportunity to enjoy Iran’s help to equip the Lebanese army with modern weapons and to get rid of the US dominance over the country which has lasted for the past five years.

The Lebanese political leader further expressed hope that Ahmadinejad’s visit create a change in Lebanon’s approaches and also encourage the regional countries to support the resistance against the Zionist regime especially at the present time when the Palestinian Authority and Israel were going back to direct talks./end
