AZERBAIJANI PRESIDENT RECEIVES CREDENTIALS OF NEW LATVIAN AMBASSADOR
Baku, September 29 (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today accepted credentials of new Latvian ambassador Hardijs Baumanis.
During the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev said the two nations enjoyed close and sincere relations. He said Latvia was well-known in Azerbaijan. The Head of State expressed confidence the Azerbaijan-Latvia relations would strengthen in the coming years.
President Ilham Aliyev touched upon former Latvian leader Vaira Vīke-Freiberga`s recent visit to Azerbaijan. The Head of State also recalled his meetings with the Latvian ex-president during previous visits and on the sidelines of international events.
Ambassador Baumanis said former Latvian president Vaira Vīke-Freiberga was satisfied with her recent Azerbaijan visit, adding she left the country with the best impressions.
The ambassador said Latvia was interested in expanding the cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Hardijs Baumanis stressed the role of mutual visits by the heads of state in developing the bilateral relations.
