DANISH AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark Mr. Friis Arne Petersen presented Wednesday the diplomatic credentials to Mongolia's President Ts.Elbegdorj.
At the meeting, held after this ceremony, the State Head and the Ambassador discussed the Mongolia-Denmark relations and cooperation and international matters.
Saying that Denmark has traditional and friendly relations with Mongolia, the Ambassador has underlined an opportunity for the countries to boost the cooperation in the sectors of agriculture and renewable energy.
In response, the President has said Mongolia has traditional ties with the Kingdom of Denmark and its Royal family, and has pointed out that an assistance from the Danish government through the “Danida” foundation played a major role in Mongolia's democracy, strengthening press freedom and in reform of education and energy spheres.
The President has said Mongolia wants to expand ties with the Scandinavian countries and to develop a cooperation with Denmark in spheres of education, culture and environment protection through technology, investments and knowhow.
Mentioning about big experiences of Denmark in agriculture and animal husbandry, the President has expressed a willingness to cooperate with Denmark in food production.
At the end of the meeting the President stated that Mongolia wants to collaborate with Denmark at international arena in developing sustainable development and good governance and in reducing global climate change, and said he hopes that his upcoming visit to be paid October 7-9 to Denmark will forward the bilateral cooperation. He has wished the Ambassador to gain achievements and success.

Mr. Friis Arne Petersen was born in 1952 in Skagen city, Denmark. He defended a master degree on economics of the University of Copenhagen in 1978. He had worked in the National Audit Office and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and served as the ambassador of his country to the USA and China.
