BAKU HOSTS INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON CATALYSIS IN PETROCHEMISTRY AND OIL PROCESSING
Baku, September 29 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani-Russian international symposium entitled “Catalysis in petrochemistry and oil processing” opened Tuesday in the Azeri capital.
The event is co-organized by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Siberia department of Russian Academy of Sciences.
The attendees, first laid a wreath at the national leader Heydar Aliyev`s bust in the ANAS` presidium building.
They also put a wreath at the monument to eminent scientist, academician Yusif Mammadaliyev.
Opening the ceremony, president of ANAS, academician Mahmud Karimov said along with Azerbaijani and Russian scientists, the symposium brings together more than 160 scientists from foreign countries.
He expressed assurance the event would play an important role in restoration and development of relations between the scientists of Azerbaijan and Russia.
He said “I am sure the attendees will hold fruitful exchanges of views and discussions on new technologies and catalysts”.
Chairman of the Symposium`s international program committee, director of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes named after Y.Mammadaliyev of ANAS, academician Musa Rustamov praised scientific cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to the event, director of the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Parmon highly praised the organization of the symposium in Baku.
He stressed Azerbaijani oil and high octane gasoline produced at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes played significant role in the victory of the World War II.
The event will end on September 30.
