SHANGHAI, September 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev and Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping visited the Chinese
pavilion at the world universal exhibition EXPO-2010 on Tuesday.
The Chinese national pavilion, which is called "Crown of the East", is
built in the traditional Chinese architectural style - a roofed building
without external walls on an area totalling 160,000 square meters. The
major idea of the pavilion is to combine the ancient Chinese wisdom and
modern conditions of life. The pavilion roof is covered with the special
film that enables to use the solar energy and to pass the light through
it. Alongside, the pavilion is provided with a special rainwater
harvesting system. After purification the rainwater can be used at home.
A movie theatre with enormous screens on the three walls is located
inside the pavilion. The visitors can watch a 3D documentary about China's
achievements in urban construction for the last 30 years after China
launched the policy of reforms and transparency.
The Russian president and the Chinese vice-president watched a video
installation reproducing the famous Chinese painting "Along the River
during the Quingming Festival". Medvedev was informed that this picture
was painted in the 12th century under the rule of the Song Dynasty, when
the Chinese art experienced its heyday. The picture shows the daily life
of the residents of the previous Chinese imperial capital. A
528-centimeter-long roll illustrates in detail the crafts of various
estates. The Chinese pavilion has on display a roll's animated copy, where
more than 600 figures are moving.
At the end of a tour of the Chinese pavilion Dmitry Medvedev and Xi
Jinping made entries in the book of honorary guests.
