Cabinet refers amendment draft of election law to parliament
SANA'A, July 30 (Saba) - The cabinet approved in its Tuesday meeting headed by prime minister Ali Mujawar referring an amendment draft of some articles of law No. 13 for 2003 over general electionsand referendum to the parliament for finalizing its issuance.
The amendments come to avoid the shortcomings of the law appeared last period, reinforce guarantees to hold free elections and to benefit from the European Union's recommendations issued after the 2006 presidential elections in addition to adopting what thepolitical parties agreed on.
The amendment draft included issues concerning fields of challenges and the right of challenges against the candidates of parliament and local elections during the nominationperiod.
It also enhanced the media neutrality during the election campaigns and the right of offering administrative complaints during the elections processes as well as regulatingthe election's security and the right of monitoring election either local or foreign.
