PYONGYANG, September 28 (Itar-Tass) - Kim Jong-Il was elected general
secretary of the Korean Workers' Party (KWP) at the conference of this
organisation on Tuesday, the KCNA news agency reported.
Delegates of this major party forum, being held for the first time
over the past 44 years, gathered in Pyongyang to approve personnel
appointments at the KWP top echelon.
