KAZAN, Tatarstan, September 28 (Itar-Tass) - Singapore's "RSP
Architect Planning & Engineers PTE LTD" will help creating an IT-village
in Tatarstan under an agreement signed at the Russian-Singaporean business
forum on Monday.
Nikolai Nikiforov, Tatarstan's minister of information and
communication, said that there was an IT-park in Kazan. The IT village
will be located 35 kilometers away from Kazan. Its area will be 1,400
hectares. The project provides for a special program for the construction
of comfortable housing with infrastructure for leading IT experts.
"Another four agreements have been signed today in the field of
reforming the education system. Singapore is the world leader in the
quality of school education and we are going to adopt this experience,"
Rustam Minnikhanov, the president of Tatarstan, said.
Minnikhanov considers the stock market and Singaporean financial
markets to be promising areas for cooperation between Tatarstan and
Singapore.
"There's a vast field for activities of our companies in this sphere,
including the advancement of shares of Tatarstan's companies," the
president of Tatarstan emphasized.
He regretted that Tatarstan was weakly represented in the Asian market
as the biggest producer of petrochemical products and added that the
republic had great desire to advance its companies in international
markets.
. Putin to pay a working visit to Syktyvkar.
MOSCOW, September 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin will on Tuesday hold a meeting in Syktyvkar, the Republic of Komi,
on investment projects in the wood and paper industry.
The government press service reports that the meeting is expected to
dwell on prospects for developing the Russian timber industry, measures of
state support and the legal framework for the use of timber resources in
investment projects carried out on the lands of the Timber Fund and the
experience of work in this sphere accumulated in the Republic of Komi.
First Vice-Premier Viktor Zubkov, representatives of specialized
ministries and agencies, the heads of Russian regions and directors of
wood and paper enterprises will attend the meeting.
Putin will visit two major wood and paper enterprises as part of his
trip.
. Earthquake hits Buryatia.
ULAN UDE, September 28 (Itar-Tass) - An earthquake measuring 6.7
points struck Buryatia late on Monday. The epicentre of underground
tremors was located 45 kilometers away from the village of Ust-Barguzin in
the water area of Lake Baikal, the press service of the main department of
the Russian Emergencies Ministry for Buryatia reports on Tuesday.
Several populated localities turned out to be in a 50-kilometer quake
zone. However, no tremors were felt there. No casualties or destruction
have been reported.
.Primorye region wants to develop broader coopertion with China.
VLADIVOSTOK, Far East, September 28 (Itar-Tass) - The Governor of the
Primorye region, Sergei Darkin, and the governor of the Chinese province
of Jilin agreed to set up a working group to control the implementation of
joint projects in agriculture, the processing industry and tourism, the
press service of the administration of the Primorye territory told
Itar-Tass.
Sergei Darkin believes that inter-regional cooperation with China
holds out good prospects for the Primorye region.
"Agreements reached between the Russian and Chinese heads of state
will give a new impetus to strategic interaction. The Primoyre region has
all the conditions for cooperation. China has successfully implemented
several investment projects in the region in recent years," Darkin went on
to say.
The governor of the Primorye region is accompanying President Medvedev
on his trip to China as a member of an official Russian delegation.
China is one of the leading investors and trade and economic partners
of the Primorye region. Its trade exchanges with China doubled in the
first half of 2010 compared to the same period of 2009. Along with Chinese
imports, export is also growing. China invested about 15 million dollars
in the region's economy is 2009. Eighty Russian-Chinese joint ventures
operate in the region.
