Two Arab suspects in Hadramout police compound attack
HADRAMOUT, July 30 (Saba) - The police have launched a huge manhunt for the people who planned a suicide attack against a police compound in the southern province of Hadramout, the mouthpiece of Yemen's Defense ministry September 26 said.
The hunt is targeting 12 suspects including two Arabs believed to be involved in the attack which took place late last week and killed two people and wounded 18others.
A security source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, made clear a Saudinamed Muhammad Bin Naef al-Qahtani is one of the Arab suspects in the attack.
The source added that al-Qahtani, a prominent fugitive wanted by the Saudi authorities, was the financer of terror attacks against foreign interests and Yemeni oil facilitiesin the recent months.
An explosive-laden car rammed on Friday into a police compound in Hadramout.
The police said that al-Qaeda was behind the terror attack in which two people, a soldier and the attacker, were killed and eighteen others injured including sixwomen.
The attacker was a university student named Ahmed Saeed Omer, born in Saudi Arabia.
An al-Qaede cell, the Arab peninsula battalions, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the attack was in revenge for the murder of al-Qaeda affiliates inYemen.
A number of terror attacks were carried out by al-Qaeda extremists against foreigninterests in the recent months in Yemen.
The US embassy in Sana'a and another foreigner housing complex were bombed but no causalities were reported. The Custom Training Institute in Sana'a and the Aden Refinerywere also mortared.
Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for all these attacks.
