Chief of Russian General Staff begins visit to Japan.

TOKYO, September 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Chief of the Russian General Staff
and First Deputy Defence Minister General of the Army Nikolai Makarov
arrived on a working visit in Japan on Tuesday, a source in the Russian
Embassy in Tokyo told Itar-Tass.
The major events of Makarov's two-day visit in Tokyo are scheduled on
Wednesday, September 29.
Under the visit program the chief of the Russian General Staff will
visit several military facilities of the Japanese Self-Defence Forces,
particularly the Asaka garrison in the Tokyo prefecture.
Alongside, Makarov will meet with the top officials of the Japanese
Defence Ministry and will discuss the security problems in the region.
