.Azerbaijan's president comes to Uzbekistan on official visit.

TASHKENT, September 27 (Itar-Tass) -- Azerbaijan's President Ilham
Aliyev came on Monday to Uzbekistan on an official visit to develop
economic and cultural cooperation between Baku and Tashkent.
"Prior to the visit of Ilham Aliyev, there were political
consultations between foreign ministries and there was the ninth meeting
of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan intergovernmental commission on trade and
economic cooperation," Uzbekistan's foreign ministry's Zhakhon information
agency said on Monday.
"The position of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Nagorny Karabakh
remains firm and unaltered," the agency said. "Uzbekistan has been
supporting persistently a peaceful and political settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, where observation of Azerbaijan's territory
integrity and sovereignty remains the basic condition."
"In the present context," Uzbekistan appreciates highly Azerbaijan's
support of Uzbekistan's initiatives and positions "on the vital regional
issues like the six plus three contact group as an important mechanism in
the settlement of the Afghanistan problem, settlement of the water and
energy issues in Central Asia on the basis of common norms of
international law and the interests of all the states in the region."
Uzbekistan's foreign ministry says the present legal base of
cooperation with Azerbaijan comprises over a hundred documents.
"The relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have good future and
may play an important role in supporting the long-term stability and
stable development of Central Asia and Southern Caucasus," Uzbekistan's
foreign ministry said.
