BAKU, September 27 (Itar-Tass) -- President Ilkham Aliyev of
Azerbaijan will discuss issues of expanding cooperation in the spheres of
economy and culture during his two-day visit to Uzbekistan which begins on
Monday.
According to diplomatic sources in Baku, during Aliyev's meetings with
the country's leadership, the sides will speak about the implementation of
the biggest regional projects. Uzbekistan, in particular, shows interest
in the railway project Baku-Tbilisi-Kars which in future will enable
cargoes form Asian countries to reach Europe.
The sides will also consider possibilities of strengthening
interaction in energy, trade and agriculture.
It is expected that a number of agreements, including agreements on
economic partnership for the next five years, as well as in the field of
humanitarian cooperation, information exchanges and interaction of law
enforcement bodies, will be signed according to the results of the talks.
Aliyev will take part in the opening of the Azerbaijanian cultural
centre named after Geidar Aliyev in Tashkent.
Trade turnover between the two countries according to the results of
2009 amounted to 46.3 million dollars. Official Baku believes that this
index doesn't correspond to potential possibilities of Azerbaijan and
Uzbekistan.
