Medvedev chats with students of Dalian Foreign Languages Institute.

DALIAN, September 26 (Itar-Tass) - President Dmitry Medvedev advised
Russians to study the Chinese language and Chinese people-the Russian
language. "Our countries have very close relations. The more Chinese know
Russian, while Russians - Chinese, the stronger and more diverse our
relations will be," claimed the Russian head of state.
He visited the Russian language centre of the Dalian Institute of
Foreign Languages.
When Medvedev entered a classroom, students were engaged in studies:
they were watching Russian-language TV-channels on their PCs, reading
Tolstoy and Turgenev. "Familiar letters," the president smiled, casting a
glance at one of the computer screens.
Incidentally, one of girl students was preparing to a Master's Degree
on "Fathers and children" by Ivan Turgenev. "A very interesting, but a
very difficult topic," noted the president. Another girl was reading "War
and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy. "A very interesting, but a very bulky work -
four volumes; Tolstoy is a great, serious author," Medvedev emphasised.
The Russian leader praised the students that they speak and write
Russian excellently.
