SOCHI, the Krasnodar territory, September 26 (Itar-Tass) Fish breeders
in Sochi have created a new breed of trout capable of spawning in warm
water. The warmth-loving trout starts spawning in August.
"The end of summer when even Mountain Rivers get warmed up to 18 or 20
degrees Centigrade is the earliest spawning season for this dainty type of
fish. There's no other place in the world where trout can spawn in such
temperatures. Ten years of selection work have produced the desired
result. We've managed to adjust the fish to high temperatures," the fish
breeder Elena Moiseyeva told Itar-Tass.
The Sochi fish breeders are collecting documents to register their
patent rights for the new trout breed.
In northern countries, a normal spawning season for the trout begins
in mid-September. In Western Europe, it last till January or even late
February.
The Sochi-based fish breeding farm "Adler" is more than 30 years old.
It has accumulated great experience in raising trout fish. It has
collected a genetic fund of the most valuable and promising breeds
cultivated in various widths. The farm produces 20-25 million berries a
year. The spawn is supplied to 90% of Russian fish farms that grow trout.
The Sochi fish-breeders believe that the new early-spawning breed
will make it possible to increase the trout population in mountain rivers.

YEKATERINBURG, the Urals, September 26 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's first
collection of attire for hamsters and guinea pigs have appeared in the
Urals. The first shipment of clothes for rodents has been put for sale in
a zoological shop in Yekaterinburg.
"At the moment, our shop sells 12 dresses for little rodents. It's
bright attire with dйcor. This clothes looks like a doll's dress. One such
dress costs 100 rubles," the zoo shop's director Lyudmila Rudenko told
Itar-Tass.
The idea, which is vanguard for Russia, struck deep roots abroad.
"Thailand has been sewing dresses, hats, sundresses and vests for the
rodents for a long time. Miniature collections have become popular. It has
even become fashionable to buy hamsters and guinea pigs," Rudenko went on
to say. She added that a growing demand for these animals had been noticed
in the Urals.
In addition to clothes, hamsters and guinea pigs in Yekaterinburg can
also have services of hairdressers who can trim and comb their hair and
even dye the animals in various colors. The first rodent visitor has had
its hair trimmed and was then dyed in red.
