Inquiry into 9/11 attacks to be in US favor : Iranian MP

Tehran, Sept 26, IRNA – A senior member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) said Sunday that a probe into the 9/11 events would benefit the US.

'If the US prevents an investigation into the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it will put under question the performance of Washington and the Zionist lobby,'Head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Ala'eddin Boroujerdi told IRNA.

He made the remarks commenting on the recent proposal of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad presented in his speech at the UN General Assembly on September 23.

The Iranian President suggested the formation of a fact-finding committee to probe into the 9/11 events arguing some segments of the US government could be involved in the terrorist attacks.

'If the US prevents the formation of the fact-finding committee, this would strengthen the hypothesis that the US and Zionists were engaged' in the tragic event, Boroujerdi said.

He added that the Zionists were the prime suspects of the terrorist attacks from the very first days after 9/11 as all Zionists had left the Twin Towers shortly before the attacks.

Boroujerid stressed that having proposed the formation of the committee, Iran has taken a major step towards shedding light into the dark angles of the 9/11 events./end
