Pak journalist slams UN approach

Islamabad, Sep 26, IRNA -- Mazhar Abbas a senior Pakistani journalist on Sunday slammed United Nations for adopting discriminatory approach towards smaller countries.
Talking to IRNA, he said that weak countries feel insecure because of the UN 'double standards’.
He said that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has rightly urged UN to play its principal role in world management.
Mazhar Abbas regretted that whole of Iraq was bombed over a false intelligence report and even then nobody held US accountable for the act. “It was a criminal negligence on part of US”, the journalist noted.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in his remarks underlined that the UN must provide all nations with equal opportunities so that they can play their role in the world management.
“Smaller countries should be given equal respect”, Mazhar Abbas demanded.
He was of the opinion that the concept of super power is against the definition of basic human rights. “It is strange that some countries have become nuclear powers whereas others are barred to become nuclear powers”, he said.
The journalist urged the smaller countries to go for economic reforms to counter discrimination of world powers.
He asked why the UN always fail to react against the US and Israel.
Mazhar Abbas expressing his views said that UN has failed to settle the critical issue of Palestine.
He added that every one knows that Israel is at fault but unfortunately because of the support of US, the UN has become a silent spectator to the aggravating situation.
“Now US is threatening Iran of military strike but the UN members state have failed to play their due roles”, he said.
The analyst opined that biased approach of the UN is the cause of problems in the world and that must be changed./end
