Bomb explodes near race course in central Bangkok

BANGKOK, Sept 26 -- Thai police are studying the images retained by a closed circuit camera to determine if it captured views of a bomber who planted an explosive device near a race track in central Bangkok.

Police said the bomb exploded at about 12.30am Sunday under a flyover bridge near the Nang Lerng horse racing course (Royal Turf Club).

No casualties were reported and damages were minimal in the incident, the third bomb incident in two days, they said.

Police said the unidentified bomber used urea fertiliser mixed with diesel fuel and metal spikes. The bomb was contained in an aluminium gas cylinder and manually detonated using an electric wire.

The authorities said they were reviewing coverage recorded by the closed circuit camera installed on the flyover and at the scene of the incident whether it had recorded images of the bomber.

Sunday’s incident in the capital came after two separate bombings Friday which left three persons wounded. The unidentified bombers are still at large. (MCOT online news)
