Luke Lewis signs long-term Panthers deal
Penrith star Luke Lewis has agreed to a long term deal with the Panthers, keeping
him at the NRL club until the end of the 2014 season.
Panthers chief executive Michael Leary met with the 2003 premiership winner's
manager on Saturday morning to finalise the deal which is a massive boost to the
club's future.
The Australian Test and NSW Origin representative is one of the most versatile
players in the NRL and seems destined to take over as Penrith captain when Petero
Civoniceva retires.
"I'm excited that we have been able to keep the nucleus of our team together for the
next three years," Leary said.
"Luke is a competitive player who has achieved a lot since debuting for the club in
2001. His representative career for both NSW and Australia continues to show the
quality of our junior nursery at Penrith and he is someone who plays an enormous
part of our success as a club."
