Two escape from light plane crash
Two people have been lucky to walk away with minor injuries after their light plane
flew into powerlines, crash-landed and burst into flames on the Surf Coast Highway
near Geelong.
Police said the plane had been attempting to land at Grovedale Airport when it was
caught by a gust of wind and clipped the power lines.
A Rural Ambulance spokesman told AAP the pilot, a 59 year-old man, suffered
lacerations to his legs and ankles while his 15 year-old female passenger sustained
minor cuts in the accident, which occurred around 11am on Saturday.
The Surf Coast Highway remains blocked in both directions from Mt Duneed Road to
Boundary Road.
