L.GANSUKH TAKES PART IN "PROTECTING NATURE- REFORM OF POLICY" DISCUSSION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A minister of nature, environment and tourism L.Gansukh has participated in the "Protecting nature-reform of policy" discussion in Khovd and Omnogobi aimags. The discussion has involved Western and Gobi regions.
During the meeting he watched how the national programme "Green Wall" is being implemented in Jargalant, Buyant and Mankhan soums of Khovd aimag.
The first step of the "Green-Wall" was made in Chandmani and Zereg soum of Khovd in 2005, since then, the trees and bushes, adaptable to the local weather, have been planted on 65 hectares by arboriculture units.
At the meetings, ways of implementing the programmes "Water-National program" and "Combating deforestation" have been discussed and opinions have been sounded how to work out projects on climate change and environmental master plan of Mongolia.
The same talks and meeting will run in Dornod and Darkhan-Uul aimags next month.
The seminar has been co-organized by Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism, the World Bank, Development Agency of Switzerland attracting specialists and administrations of Khovd, Uvs, Bayan-Olgii, Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai, Omnogobi, Dundgobi, Dornogobi, Gobisumber and Bayankhongor aimags.
