Yemen refutes US participation in Shabwa security operations

SANA'A, Sep. 23 (Saba)
- Yemen refuted on Thursday strongly any participation of US drone in the security
operations
carried out against al-Qaeda in Hota area of Shabwa governorate.
Shabwa governor Ali al-Ahmadi told the weekly 26spetenmber that such news is
groundless, affirming that the security operations have been carried out by
counterterrorism
units in participation with armed forces.
He said that the security forces managed to arrest armed groups in Hota area, whom
are being investigated currently.
The operations have resulted in killing four al-Qaeda men and wounding many others
so far and three security individuals have been injured. A citizen has been killed
by
sniper from the al-Qaeda side al-Ahmadi said.
Shabwa security office director Ahmed al-Maqdashi said that security officers have
arrested about 28 al-Qaeda suspects. They are under investigations currently.
The security operations against al-Qaeda in Hota area would not be ceased until
they surrender or be arrested, al-Maqdashi said.
