Italy grants Yemen Euro 3 mln for Socotra's biodiversity
SANA'A, Sep. 22 (Saba) -
Yemen and Italy signed on Wednesday a financing agreement of Euro 3 million for a
biodiversity
project for Socotra archipelago.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation
Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and Water and Environment Minister Abdul-Rahman al-Iriyani
and the Italian
ambassador Alessandro Fallavollita.
Under the agreement, Italy grants Yemen Euro 3 million as a contribution to support
Socotra archipelago biodiversity.
Al-Arhabi talking about the significance of the biodiversity of Socotra
archipelago, pointing to the efforts the government made in this regard.
Socotra archipelago biodiversity project is supported by a number of donor
countries and bodies, such as Italy, France, Germany and UNDP.
Al-Arhabi has met with the Middle East Officer in the Italian Foreign Ministry.
They discussed the bilateral cooperation relations.
The Italian official accented that Italy will continue its support to the Yemeni
coastguards via financing a new stage of the project of coastal monitoring for
ships.
