BISHKEK, September 22 (Itar-Tass) - Four military facilities will be
included into Russia's joint military base in Kyrgyzstan, the press
service of the Kyrgyz Defence Ministry told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
"Russia's future military base will unite under the joint command four
facilities of the Russian Armed Forces deployed on the territory of
Kyrgyzstan. This concerns the air base in Kant, the communications hub
near the village of Chaldybar, the testing site for torpedo propulsion and
guidance systems in Karakol and the seismic station near the town of
Mayluu-Suu," the source said.
On September 19, a group of experts from the Russian Defence Ministry
led by the deputy head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Valery
Gerasimov, arrived in Bishkek for consultations.
Among other issues on the agenda was also a draft agreement between
the two countries on the status and deployment conditions of Russian
servicemen on the territory of the republic.
"The work of expert groups will be completed by signing a protocol on
September 23," the press service said.
The Kyrgyz side at the talks is represented by First Deputy Defence
Minister, Major General Asylbek Ormokoyev.
