PRIME MINISTER MEETS WITH BHUTANESE PREMIER


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister of Mongolia S.Batbold has met with Jigme Yoser Thinley, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan during his participation in the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City, USA.
According to history, Mongolia supported Bhutan in joining the United Nations (UN) in 1971. The Kingdom of Bhutan is very similar to Mongolia in terms of geopolitics, geographical location and religion. The first King of Bhutan accessed to the throne in December 17, 1907. This country has been nominated at the election of non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council to run 2013-2014. Thus, the meeting was held at request of the Bhutanese side in order to get a support from Mongolia.
Welcoming the 100th anniversary of the contemporary diplomatic service of Mongolia to be celebrated in 2011, the Mongolian side has initiated and launched establishing of diplomatic relations with those UN member-states who have not had such relations with Mongolia. In frames of it, the Presidential Office has given directives to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to create diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Bhutan in the first turn. In addition, Mongolia's Ambassador to the Republic of India V.Enkhbold had held a meeting with the Bhutanese Ambassador to India in a scope of this matter.
At the above meeting the Premier said he will reply soon to the matter on Buthan's seeking a non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
