Iran's Sacred Defense Week ceremonies begins with military parade

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA – The national Sacred Defense Week ceremonies started Wednesday morning with the parade of different units of Iran's armed forces in southern Tehran.

The ceremony is being participated by senior military and government officials as well as foreign diplomats, military attaches and reporters.

It is being held at the Mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeini.

September 22 is the start of the Sacred Defense Week in Iran which marks the anniversary of the beginning of Iraq's imposed war against the country in 1980.

Iranians commemorate memories of the eight-year imposed war by holding various ceremonies nationwide.

Different exemplary units of the Iranian armed forces including the Army, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Police are to display their latest defensive equipment during the ceremony./end
