Iran, Indonesia keen to expand ties

Tehran, July 30, IRNA - Iran and Indonesia Monday evening underscored the need for further expansion of all-out relations between the two countries.

In a meeting held between Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Indonesian counterpart Hassan Wirajuda, the two ministers also called for promotion of cooperation among member states of the Non-AlignedMovement.

The meeting was held on the eve of the 15th NAM foreign ministerialmeeting which opens on Tuesday.

The 118 member states, 15 observer members, and eightinternational and regional organizations will be attending the meeting.

Expressing his satisfaction with the current level of Tehran-Jakarta relations, Mottaki said the two countries' leaders aredetermined to boost the existing ties.

He expressed the hope that Indonesia would continue with playing itseffective role in promotion of the NAM.

On Iran's peaceful nuclear program, Mottaki lauded Jakarta's logicalstand about Iranian nuclear program.

Expressing his concern over the current global challenges, the Indonesian foreign minister said the movement plays a crucial role incountering those challenges.

He called for solidarity of the NAM member states, stressing thatall-out cooperation would strengthen the unity of those countries.

Wirajuda also underscored the need for materialization of theagreements already inked by the two states.
