PREMIER MEETS TONY BLAIR

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Attending the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City, the Prime Minister of Mongolia S.Batbold met Monday with Mr. Tony Blair, a former Prime Minister of the Great Britain. Now Mr. Blair is serving as a special Envoy of the Quartet (UN, European Union, Russia and USA) on the Middle East in frames of the UN.
The Premier and Mr. Blair have discussed issues of the Mongolia-Britain cooperation and of international collaboration. The Prime Minister introduced Mr. Blair to developmental policy and position of Mongolia to international matters.
Mr. Blair has noted that economy of Mongolia--a country with good example of the democracy in Asia--has been developing intensively, and wished the coalition government of Mongolia, led by the Prime Minister S.Batbold, successes.
The Premier pointed out that Mongolia adheres to certain policy such as introducing the European standards and improving education and health sectors for citizens and pays attention to developing of a good governance.
Mr. Blair appreciated the reform the Mongolian coalition government made, the policy of improving livelihood of people, and shared his positions and experiences. “Your government's policy on introducing European standards has a great importance, but it is critical to select the best ones from these standards and to adjust them to conditions of Your country instead of copying all,” Mr. Blair has emphasized.
He said he appreciates experience of Singapore in development of education, and expressed his confidence that the Mongolian government's effort will reach positive results in the education and health sectors in a scope of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Then the dignitaries have discussed matters on forming political parties.
The same day, the Premier attended a traditional meeting of member-states of the Socialist International in frames of the UN Assembly's session, and gave a speech on climate change. In addition, he held a meeting with outstanding businessmen.
Present at the meetings were G.Batkhuu, parliamentary Vice Speaker, D.Zorigt, a Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, and N.Ganbyamba MP.
