ABOUT "INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT" SEMINAR
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A seminar themed "Innovation and Development" will be organized jointly by the National Development and Innovation Committee, Mongolia's National Commission for UNESCO with assistance from Malaysia-based International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre of UNESCO for decision- and policy-makers September 22.
The aim of the seminar is to lay here a foundation of the knowledge-based economy, to consider urgent problems that occur in developing a fruitful system of the national innovation, to study countries' experience in solving these problems, and to create a cooperation and understanding between the state, sciences and industry.
The International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre of UNESCO (ISTIC) was established in 2005 with the aim to give technical help to developing countries-members of the UNESCO in working out and realizing policies in sciences, technology and innovations, and in monitoring them. The Centre has its ISTIC-STI Policy Consultative Unit comprising well-known researchers, scientists and technologists.
The seminar will be attended by Dr. Samsudin Tugiman, a director of ISTIC, by academician Omar Abdul Rahman and other members of ISTIC-SPCU. They supposed to talk about history of National Innovation Policy in Malaysia, ways of financing it, present examples of cooperation between state, sciences and private sector, and to share views on related urgent issues of Mongolia.
