Russia to offer special training course for Japan's drugs police.

21/9 Tass 229

DOMODEDOVO, September 21 (Itar-Tass) -- The Russian Interior Ministry
will develop a special course of instruction in combating drugs
trafficking for the Japanese police, Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev
reported during a visit to the national institute for the advanced
instruction and retraining of police personnel.
He noted that on the basis of this school of higher learning a
Russia-NATO Council project was launched four years ago on instructions
from the Russian president for training staff for the anti-drugs
trafficking agencies of Afghanistan and Central Asia.
"Since then the institute has retrained 92 drugs police officers for
those countries," Nurgaliyev said. "Next year Pakistan will join in."
"The anti-drugs project has attracted the attention of our Japanese
counterparts," Nurgaliyev said. "The Japanese government has asked the
Russian Interior Ministry to develop a special course for its specialists."
"In the near future it will be developed and launched," Nurgaliyev
promised.
