China-Pakistan cooperation in atom sphere-peaceful.

BEIJING, September 21 (Itar-Tass) - Chinese-Pakistani cooperation in
the nuclear sphere is of peaceful nature and under the control of the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said on Tuesday spokeswoman of
the Chinese Foreign Ministry Jiang Yu at a briefing.
"China and Pakistan exercise cooperation in the sphere of peaceful
atom over the past few years," she said. "This cooperation is in full
compliance with appropriate international obligations of the two
countries, is of peaceful nature and under the IAEA's control," she
emphasised.
The statement by the Chinese spokeswoman was made in reply to a
request by reporters to comment on reports that the Chinese National
Atomic Corporation and Islamabad are engaged in talks on construction in
Pakistan of a nuclear power station with a capacity of one gigawats as
well as information that the sides concluded an agreement on deliveries of
two new nuclear reactors to Pakistan.
As for construction of a nuclear power station with China's
assistance, according to Jiang Yu, "the Chinese Foreign Ministry does not
have any information about this". The diplomat advised reporters to
approach an appropriate company which is referred to by the mass media.
