CSTO headquarters refrain from sending peacekeepers to Tajikistan

MOSCOW, September 21 (Itar-Tass) -- The United Headquarters of the
Collective Security Treaty Organisation do not plan to forward
peacekeepers to Tajikistan, where a convoy of military trucks was attacked
by armed terrorists recently, First Deputy Head of the United Headquarters
Colonel-General Anatoly Nogovitsin said on Tuesday.
"The Defence Ministry [of Tajikistan] has voiced its position," he
said. "They will cope with the task themselves, and we do not have a
peacekeeping task as yet."
"A decision to use the CSTO peacekeepers first of all depends on the
position of the state [concerned]," he explained. "There is a procedure to
inform the [CSTO] Secretariat of a necessity to use peacekeepers."
"As of today, we have not received any notification from Tajikistan,"
he continued. "As for the reaction to such notifications, it was practiced
over the past exercises of the peacekeepers."
