Director of Russian institute appointed IAEA`s Deputy Director

VIENNA, September 21 (Itar-Tass) - Director of Russia's Research
Institute for Nuclear Reactors, Dr Alexander Bychkov has been elected a
new Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the
IEAE Director General, Yukiya Amano said Monday night.
Dr Bychkov replaces another Russian, Yuri Sokolov, whose contract with
the agency expires at the yearend and who will take a position at the head
of the department for nuclear energy.
As he spoke to Itar-Tass, Dr Bychkov said he will get down to
performing his duties at the beginning of next year. His activity will
focus on the problems of nuclear fuel cycles and on the introduction of
innovative technologies.
