Vietnam`s Consulate to open in Urals major city.

YEKATERINBURG, September 21 (Itar-Tass) - Vietnam's Consulate is to be
opened in a gala ceremony Tuesday in the city of Yekaterinburg, widely
viewed as the capital of Russia's highly industrialized Urals area.
Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister, Nguyen Thanh Son has arrived in
Yekaterinburg to attend the ceremony, the press service of the Sverdlovsk
region's Ministry for International and External Economic Relations said.
It indicated that this is the first visit to the region by a
Vietnamese state official of a rank as high as the deputy minister.
The press service also said that trade between the Sverdlovsk region
and Vietnamese companies has grown by a factor of more than ten in the
past several years.
Specifically, it has increased from $ 4.1 million in 2007 to $ 10
million in 2009 to several dozen million U.S. dollars in 2009.
Exports of manufactured products from the Sverdlovsk region to Vietnam
make up the greater part of the cash flow generated by this trade.
About 7,000 Vietnamese live on a permanent basis in the Urals and in
Western Siberia at the moment.
