Iran-Iraq ready to boost all-out ties

Tehran, Sept 20, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Iraqi counterpart Jalal Talabani Sunday evening in New York underlined the need for further expansion of all-out ties between the two neighboring states.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the annual UN General Assembly meeting.

Both presidents also underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation at regional and international levels.

Stressing the importance of establishment of security and stability in the neighboring Iraq, President Ahmadinejad expressed hope that the popular Iraqi government will be formed soon.

He reiterated that further expansion of Tehran-Baghdad cooperation would benefit both nations and will lead to regional peace and security.

Appreciating Iran’s key role in establishment of stability and security in his country, President Talabani said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the territorial integrity and security of Iraq.

Expressing his satisfaction with the growing relations between the two nations, he voiced Baghdad’s readiness to make use of all the existing potentials to further boost bilateral cooperation in all areas./end
