Iranian ensemble to perform on Cologne Music Night

TEHRAN, Sept. 19 (MNA) -- Iranian musician Farzin Darabifar and his ensemble will perform Persian music during Cologne Music Night on September 25.

Darabifar’s concert along with five other performances will be broadcast live on Cologne radio station WDR out of about hundred concerts in different venues at the Cologne Music Night (Kölner Musiknacht).

Tar virtuoso Darabifar and his ensemble including vocalist Ruhollah Babaii, Peyman Nasehpur on tombak, Arman Sigarchi on ud, Amin Nasseri on kamancheh, Behruz Baqerzadeh on tar, Mehdi Piruz on tar bass and Hesam Vahedi-Kashi on daf will perform in the studio at WDR Radio.

They will have performances in Bayat-e Isfahan and Dashti dastgahs. In Iranian music, a dastgah is made up of a musical scale with specific tonal progressions, and an associated group of traditional melodies that constitute a basis for an improvisational performance.

Various musical genres from classical music to rock and pop to jazz and improvised music will be performed at the gala.

Musical masters like Mohammadreza Shajarian, Parviz Meshkatian, Mohammadreza Lotfi and Nasrollah Nassehpur have given performances at previous editions of the gala.
