IAEA backs some powerful states: Italian Prof.

Rome, Sept 19, IRNA – Italian Physician Professor Massimo De Santi told IRNA correspondent here on Sunday that the IAEA gives political support to certain powerful states because of being members of the UN Security Council.

Professor De Santi said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) by supporting those states including the United States plays a political role, but it should talk about technical issues instead.

By controlling Iran's nuclear program over and over, the IAEA inspectors could not find any nuclear activities against peaceful purposes, De Santi said.

Enjoying 200 nuclear warheads has made Israel have feelings of power and make threats to other countries, including Iran, the Italian physician said, adding but Tel Aviv unfortunately is not under the IAEA control.

About the recent launch of Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant, De Santi said the move took place towards Tehran's nuclear activities that seek peaceful aims.

Peace among the world nations would not be ensured by issuing threats to or imposing sanctions on them, but by dialogue and international cooperation, De Santi opined./end
