Foreign Ministry official comments on Iran-Egypt ties

Tehran, Sept 18, IRNA – An Iranian Foreign Ministry official said Iran had no plans to develop ties with Egypt.
This informed source in the Foreign Ministry said that Iran has reached the conclusion that Egypt’s Foreign Ministry is not permitted to develop ties with Iran and, as such, Tehran, too, has nothing like expanding relations with Cairo on its agenda.
Asked to comment on the remarks of the Egyptian foreign minister about Iran, the official said that given the sensitive domestic political situation Egypt is facing, Iran recommended its Egyptian brothers to be more careful about the interference of the Zionist regime and Western countries in its internal affairs and really avoid topics which could be manipulated by the enemies of the two countries.
The Foreign Ministry source also noted that such remarks seemingly served the aim of avoiding the probable consequences of the new round of the so-called peace talks.
The official said Iran expected Egyptian brothers to focus on the efforts to restore the rights of the Palestinian nation and behave in a way which would not benefit the criminal Zionist regime in attaining its evil goals./end
