Iranian envoy meets with media representatives in Vienna

Vienna, Sept 18, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Aliasghar Soltanieh held a friendly meeting with media representatives here in Vienna on Thursday evening.
In a banquet, the attendants talked for two hours about different issues of all international bodies related to atomic energy in Vienna.
The ambassador reviewed developments before and after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, imposed war, applying chemical weapons as well as the most important elements in Iran’s policy in international arena.
Soltanieh said in spite of existing serious problems in the structure of international organizations, especially the UN Security Council, right of veto and existing discriminations inside some conventions like Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran, as an active member, has been working with all these bodies with the aim of strengthening principles and implementing some improving changes.
In another part of his remarks, Soltanieh, as chairman of the world commission on fight against drugs in the UN bureau in Vienna explained Iran’s key role in this fight and criticized western countries for not being cooperative in this concern.
He underlined the vital role of media in enlightening public opinion and called the media as eyes of the international community to reflect realities./end
