Truly honoured to return to India: Folmsbee

Mumbai, Jul 29 (PTI) Paul Folmsbee, who has beenappointed as the next Consul General to India by the U.S.

Consulate, says he is truly honoured to return to India in thecurrent capacity.

Having spent part of his childhood in south India, theassignment is a sort of homecoming for Folmsbee.

"It is a true honour to return to India as the U.S.

Consul General for western and central India," Folmsbee, also the former Foreign Service Officer to the U.S. StateDepartment said.

With the relationship between our two countries stronger than it has ever been, I look forward to further deepening our government-to-government and people-to-people ties, Folmsbeesaid.

Folmsbee joined the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer in 1987 and has served in Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania), Nairobi, La Paz (Bolivia), Colombo, Libreville (Gabon),Port-au-Prince (Haiti), Islamabad and Baghdad.

In his most recent assignment to Baghdad, Folmsbee served as Team Leader, Department of States Provincial Reconstruction for Sadr City and Adhamiya in downtown Baghdad, working on governance, political reconciliation and economic developmentprograms.

The Consul General holds a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Oklahoma and has conducted fieldwork on indigenous cultures in Central America andSouthern Mexico, a Consulate press release said.
