DPJ OKs Key Members of Party Exec. Team

Tokyo, Sept. 17 (Jiji Press)--The ruling Democratic Party of Japan
on Friday approved the appointments of key members of the party's executive
team, including Katsuya Okada as new secretary-general.
The DPJ made the decision at a general meeting of its lawmakers in
the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors.
Okada, 57, succeeded Yukio Edano in the party's No. 2 post. Earlier
on Friday, Okada resigned as foreign minister prior to a reshuffle of Prime
Minister Naoto Kan's cabinet.
The DPJ also approved the reappointment of Koichi Genba, 46, as
chairman of its Policy Research Committee.
Yoshio Hachiro, 62, chairman of the Lower House Committee on
Health, Labor and Welfare, was endorsed as the party's Diet affairs
committee chairman. He succeeded Shinji Tarutoko.
