RF embassy in Indonesia considers death of engineers as accident
MOSCOW, September 16 (Itar-Tass) -- The Russian Embassy in Indonesia
considers the death of three Russian engineers as an accident. Chief of
the Consular Department in the Russian Embassy to Indonesia Vladimir
Pronin noted that the premeditated poisoning theory was groundless.
"We consider the death of three Russian citizens as an accident. The
premeditated poisoning theory put forward by some Russian media outlets is
groundless," the diplomat said live on the news television channel Rossiya
24 on Thursday.
"The embassy has not received an official written forensic resolution
from Indonesian medics on the death causes of three Russian specialists.
Meanwhile, we paid attention to a statement, which the chief of the
medical service had made for the local press that considers methanol
poisoning as a death cause of Russian citizens," he noted. The Russian
embassy "neither refutes this statement nor can substantiate it," because
the forensic expertise was not held by Russian specialists, Pronin noted.
On Wednesday, National Police Medical Chief Brigadier-General Musaddeq
Ishaq reported about the autopsy results in Jakarta on Wednesday. Methanol
poisoning that prompted breathing problems and a heart attack could have
caused the death of Russian engineers, he noted.
On September 13, three Russian employees from the Sukhoi design bureau
died unexpectedly at the Indonesian airbase Sultan Hasanuddin in the city
Macassar in South Sulawesi Province. They were working in Indonesia for
the warrant service of fighters purchased in Russia. They were found dead
on Monday morning.
