NGV shortage ending this week, says PTT
BANGKOK, July 29 (TNA) – PTT Plc says the insufficient supply of natural gas for vehicles (NGV) is ending this month as the company has already increased its production capacity to meet the demand.
Punnachai Futrakul, the company's manager supervising the natural gasmarket for vehicles, said by the end of July, PTT will be able to supply 2,900 tonnes of NGV per day while demand stays at 2,200 tonnes daily.
It is expected the supply would increase to 5,400 tonnes per day whiledemand would remain at 3,700 tonnes/day until year end.
Accordingly he said, he believed there would be no NGV shortage for the time being.
He revealed that PTT planned to build or acquire131 additional NGV service stations -- raising the number of outlets to 355 by year-end from the present 224.
It would open four more super NGV service stations by the end of this year on Karnchanapisek, Romklao and Rangsit roads in Bangkok and Navanakorn in Pathum Thani.
The first-phase super NGV station was already opened for service atBangkok's southern bus terminal.
The super station is expected to provide a full range of services inOctober, being able then to serve up to 50 vehicles for gas filling at the same time.
Currently, the number of NGV-installed vehicles in the country totals93,000 units. The number of vehicles seeking NGV installation increases to 400 units per day from less than 100 units in 2006.
