Conf on uranium industry problems opens in Alma-Ata

ASTANA, September 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Participants in the sixth
international scientific and practical conference which opened in Alma-Ata
on Tuesday will discuss topical problems of the uranium industry and
further ways of interaction in the sphere of peaceful atom.
As the press service of the national atomic company of Kazakhstan
Kazatomprom reported, "more than 250 specialists from Russia, Ukraine,
Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, France, Germany, Netherlands, the United States,
Japan, Mongolia and other countries take part in the event."
"The present world tendency of developing atomic energy envisages the
necessity of integration of world uranium companies in the scientific and
technical sphere," the press release of the conference notes.
The conference organizers also specified that "issues of innovation in
the uranium industry, environmental protection, nuclear and radioactive
security, training of qualified cadres and all aspects regarding
successful functioning of the whole nuclear industry complex" will be in
the focus of attention of the three-day conference in Alma-Ata.
