TOKYO, September 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan
was re-elected on the post of leader of the ruling Democratic Party on
Tuesday and, consequently, retained the post of the head of the Japanese
government.
A total of 206 out of 411 members of parliament from the Democratic
Party voted for Naoto Kan. His only rival at the elections - Ichiro Ozawa,
ex-secretary-general and president of the Democratic Party, got 200 votes.
Considering the votes of deputies to local legislative bodies and of the
remaining members of the Democratic Party, Naoto Kan got 791 out of 1,224
votes.
Naoto Kan, 63, became prime minister of Japan in June, this year,
after his predecessor Yukio Hatoyama resigned from his post.
