Official: Iran-Africa panel discussion vital for mutual ties

Tehran, Sept 14, IRNA – Deputy chairman of Iranian Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy committee said here on Tuesday that Iran-Africa panel discussion could pave the way for expansion of political, social and cultural mutual ties.
Talking to IRNA, Mohammad Kosari added that Iran-Africa ties have been strengthened in the past three decades, adding that during the reign of the monarchist regime, Iran was under control of US and Europe and had no ties with other countries.
He said Iran's ties with African, Latin American and Asian countries have been fostered along with European countries.
Member of Iran National Security and Foreign Policy Commission also cited Tehran cooperation with African countries as proper, underlining that mutual ties and import- export should be upgraded among Iran and African states.
The first Iran-Africa panel discussion opened in the Iranian capital on September 14 and will end tomorrow.
Ministers of foreign affairs, industries and mines, and health of several African states as well as representatives from economic and investment companies from 40 counties are attending the gathering along with journalists and press officials from the continent./end
