Iran's Supreme Leader condemns abhorrent desecration of Holy Quran
Tehran, Sept 14, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday expressed abhorrence at desecration of Holy Quran in the U.S. and said that the US government must punish those responsible for the great crime to prove its innocence.
The Supreme Leader said in a message to the Iranian nation and the entire Islamic Ummah that the Zionist circles within the US Administration are the main conspirators of the sacrilege.
'The abhorrent and disgusting desecration of the Holy Quran took place in the US under protection of the American police. It is bitter and great event which cannot be regarded as a practice done by several idiots and lackeys. But, is a calculated action by the circles which have launched propaganda to promote Islamophobia and anti-Islamic campaign and have resorted to several hundred methods and thousands propaganda means to fight Islam and Quran.
"It is another ring from the disgraceful chain which began by apostate Salman Rushdie's treason and followed by the dastardly Danish caricaturist and tens of anti-Islam movies produced in Hollywood. It has reached the current abhorrent play. What or who are behind the shameful moves? Study of the villain process of criminal events taking place in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Pakistan leaves no doubt that designing such schemes and the think-tanks are in the hands of the leaders of hegemonic system and Zionists who have the most influence on the US government and its security and military organs and on the British and several other European governments as well.
These are the target of the independent fact-finding investigations which are growingly accused of involvement in the adventure of attacks on the Twin Towers on September 11. The adventure which gave a pretext to the then US criminal president to attack Afghanistan and Iraq and he declared war of crusade and the same person has reportedly said yesterday that the war of crusade has completed by entry into scene of the church,' the Supreme Leader said.
The Supreme Leader said that the disgusting desecration of Holy Quran aims to bring the anti-Islam and anti-Muslim campaign to the public in the Christian community and that the church and the priests get involved in the matter to give it a religious nature and prejudice, on one hand, and Muslim nations whose sentiments have been injured by the sacrilege to forget the issues of the Muslim World and the Middle East, on the other./end
